Being a parent is one of the busiest things you can, and it can be hard to find much time for yourself. If the school run, rushing to swimming lessons and trying to get all the children washed, fed, and dressed is taking up all your time, try these fast beauty hacks to still feel and look like yourself as a busy mother.
Taking even a few minutes for your own beauty routine can help you to feel less stressed and more like yourself, which sets a good example for your children.
- Keep coconut oil to hand. Coconut oil is a hard-working beauty ingredient that can be used for all sorts of things. Put in on all over for a rich all-over body moisturizer for really soft skin or use it as a deep-conditioning treatment for your hair once a week if you leave it on overnight. Apply a little as a lip balm.
- Turn to eyeliner as your go-to beauty product. Putting on a quick swipe of eyeliner is fast to do and has the benefit of enhancing your eyes and helping to disguise tired eyes after a night awake with the baby. Experiment with eyeliners in fun colors for a different look.
- Get your lashes done. If your lashes look good, you instantly look more put together. To save time in your make-up routine, have long-lasting false lashes put on or get your lashes dyed, so you can just wake up and go, and look like you’ve made an effort without having to make one.
- Braid your hair at night. If you have long hair, but don’t have time to style it in the morning, braid your hair at night and sleep with it in the braid. In the morning, take the braid out and run your fingers through your hair for soft, natural-looking waves with minimal effort.
- Buy multi-purpose products. A great way to save time is to use products that serve more than one function. For example, use a tinted moisturizer that will double up as a foundation, or buy a moisturizer with a sunscreen in it. Cutting out a few steps in your routine can save you a lot of time.
- Look for handbag-sized products. As a mother, you need to be prepared while you’re on the go. Mini products like nail polish remover wipes or face cleansing wipes can be a lifesaver if you put them in your bag to save you in moments where you realize you’ve got chipped nail varnish or smudged lipstick right before you go into a meeting.
- Learn a clever brow trick with only lip balm and a toothbrush. Pressed for time in the morning. Put some lip balm over your brows and brush them into place with an old, clean toothbrush. Brush with upward strokes for amazing brows in seconds.
- Cover grey hairs with eyeshadow. Haven’t had time to dye your hair for a while, and got greys sneaking through? Find an eyeshadow that matches your hair color. Using the sponge applicator, lightly dab the hairs all around the shaft of the grey hair to disguise them until you have time for a salon trip.
