Tips For Planning a Better Snow Day For The Whole Family

Sharing is caring!

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of SnowCast for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.

Here in southwestern Ohio, having snowfall in winter is inevitable. It’s also inevitable that we will need to bust out the shovels, sidewalk salt, sleds, and fuzzy warm blankets for snow removal, warming up, and some good old-fashioned fun.

With SnowCast for iOS, I can plan a much better snow day for everyone in our family!

Using the app, I can line up our snow removal and ice removal gear. Shovels, sidewalk salt, gloves, hats, coats and boots can be readied in advance. I can also plan out whether or not we’ll shovel at all, or if the dusting of snow isn’t worth it. Our house has a few outdoor steps, so it’s important that those are safe since we use them daily.

If school is delayed, I’m given an extra hour or two in the morning that I can shovel the front steps and sidewalk with. I can also make sure we aren’t missing any gloves or hats, since the kids can never remember where they put them.

With SnowCast, I can also determine if we should get the “bread and milk” everyone seems to run out for. In fact, I’d rather avoid that so I use SnowCast to give me a heads-up so I can beat the crowds if a big snow storm is coming!

Note: Bread and milk aren’t the best choices. Make sure you have a good supply of bottled water, and foods that are nonperishable and don’t require electricity – crackers, granola bars, cereal, chips, salsa, nuts, peanut butter, etc. You won’t have the most amazing menu, but you’ll atleast be eating!

Have entertainment on hand! Board games and card games are always a family favorite. Younger children will enjoy coloring books, puzzles, Play-Doh, sticker books, etc. If you do get enough snow for outdoor play, make sure everyone has their snow gear! Hats, gloves, boots, snow pants, scarves should all be ready! Make sure your sleds are clean and not cracked or broken. Nothing is more of a bummer than broken sled!

The SnowCast app will easily tell me how much snow we are forecasted to get, and the rader is great! It’s an easy app to use, and every parent should have this on hand so they can plan ahead and make snow days and weather events in their easier to handle!

Download the app now for your iOS device and get ahead of the snow!

Now tell me, what’s your favorite part about a snow storm?
