Natural Health Remedies for Moms on the go

This post was written by contributing writer Jenna. Let’s face it. Us moms just don’t have time to spare for lengthy remedies to health problems, especially if they require a hospital visit or down time. Because there are so many of us that spend time on the go, I decided to look into natural remedies that could be done anywhere in minutes. All of these remedies can either be created at home in minutes, or they can be purchased and fit into your purse for outings.

I will outline natural remedies for the following ailments to help moms live a healthier, natural life:

  • Allergies
  • Warts or Moles
  • Cold and Flu
  • Headaches

Allergies

An Italian study published in the International Archives of Allergy and Immunology showed that using neti pots is a simple, mild, and effective way to relieve allergy symptoms. A neti pot looks like a genie lamp and is filled with saltwater. It helps clear out the pollen in the nostrils to help you breathe easier. There are also certain foods that have been shown to reduce allergy symptoms, such as foods rich with Omega-3 fatty acids like cold-water fish, walnuts, and grass-fed meats and eggs.

Warts or Moles

There are natural oil-based products on the market that come in bottles small enough to slip into your purse and take on the go. They are designed to help treat specific skin conditions like warts, moles, or skin tags with healthy, natural remedies. Companies who create these products take the time to make sure they are safe and natural, omitting chemical compounds that can hinder the body’s natural healing process.

Some examples of different natural oil-based healing products can be found on Amoils.com.

Cold and Flu

It’s important to be careful what products you use to treat cold and flu symptoms. The body has to be allowed to fight off the virus in order to keep the immune system strong. A lot of products on the market that are designed to relieve cold and flu symptoms have a number of chemicals in them, and they do little more than relieve the symptoms. It actually takes longer for the body to recover from the illness when using the cold and flu medications.

Instead, put the neti pot to use again to relieve the sinuses of congestion. To relieve sore throats, mix one tablespoon of lemon juice with one teaspoon of honey in two cups of hot water. Let it cool to room temperature, then gargle for 20-30 seconds. While it won’t get rid of the cold, it will help relieve the symptoms in a healthy, natural way and allow the body to fight off the virus without interference from medications.

Headaches

Headaches can take a mom from 60 to 0 really quickly, and the automatic instinct is to reach for the ibuprofen to relieve the pain quickly. Believe it or not, certain essential oils have been proven to relieve headaches, and applying them is much easier than you think. Natural essential oils made from lavender or Roman chamomile work great for relaxing muscles and relieving headache pain when applied to the problem area with a light finger massage. The effects take no longer than an over-the-counter medication, and essential oils are more natural and less harmful to the body and can fit into your purse. In fact, they can even help with the softness of your skin.

These are just a few healthy, natural remedies that can be useful to any mom on the go. They only take a minute or two to complete, and in some cases they can even go where you go.

What natural health remedies do you use as a busy mom?
