I certainly didn’t wake up one morning and lose 50 pounds (although, that would have been nice!). It took hard work and finally finding some of that self-control and determination that I’ve been lacking. I don’t even know HOW, but it just did and it’s felt amazing to lose this weight and I don’t mind inspiring others with my how. Over the past few months, I’ve definitely changed how I eat, what I eat, when I eat and it’s not some weird and crazy thing, honestly. Keto isn’t complicated – it doesn’t have to be. There’s this thing that’s literally called “lazy keto”, and it fits those people who want to try the lifestyle but don’t want to be hardcore with measuring food, measuring ketones, only fresh and unpackaged foods, etc. “Lazy” is actually a good thing because it still works.
This post is going to focus on some “lazy” keto foods, snacks, meals. It’s not meant for everyone who wants to be keto, but it’s a great place to eat like I do.
One thing with keto is that you typically don’t snack. Well, I’m a crazy busy mom so sometimes I have to snack to keep my energy up and most of the time, my meals are just large snacks on the go. That’s what I’m loving about adding Lorissa’s Kitchen products to my must-have list. Lorissa’s Kitchen is NOT a jerky – it’s higher moisture content gives it its tenderness and the punch of flavor of the Korean Barbeque? Yes! It’s packed with protein (which is great for keto), is low in fat, and the carbs aren’t too terrible. Now, it’s 7g per serving and I like to keep my daily intake below 20 (sometimes 30), so it’s not something I can go crazy with. But as a last minute snack? Yes!
A lot of the foods that I eat are pretty boring when it comes to flavor. Ground turkey, bacon, eggs… you have to get creative and use seasonings, use low to no carb sauces, and work in flavor where you can.
“Lazy” keto snacks outside of a serving of Lorissa’a Kitchen?
String cheese
pepperoni
black olives
pork rinds
deli meats (watch out for added sugars!)
My meals aren’t very fancy or complicated either, but they are definitely eaten more than once a week. It just makes it easy when trying to get my protein and fat while keeping carbs low.
“Lazy” keto meal ideas
Eggs and bacon (or sausage)
Fathead pizza
Bacon cheeseburger (no bun, of course)
Taco salad
I also like to let myself not be strict, and sometimes that means a nice, cold, tea. Pairing Lorissa’s Kitchen with a bottle of Honest Tea® is my little homerun (and yes, even after this combination, I’m still losing weight and happy). You can have the unsweetened Honest Tea which drastically reduces the carbs (to zero!), so I suggest taking advantage of this Ibotta offer to earn $1.00 cash back with the purchase of following combo, exclusively at Walmart.
- Lorissa’s Kitchen™ Premium Protein Snacks – Any variety – 2.25 oz. bag
- Honest Tea® – Any variety – Single bottle only
- Both products must be purchased on the same receipt to receive credit for this rebate
If you do decide you want to give keto a try, don’t be hard on yourself. Everyone has their own way of doing it, and there’s no right or wrong way if you ask me. Find what works for you, for the way you want to manage what you eat, and allow yourself to try new foods, new brands, and new flavors.
