Interview with the Imagination Movers!

Sharing is caring!

The Imagination Movers are a group of 4 guys, who began in New Orleans back in 2003. By reaching high, thinking big, working hard, and having fun, these 4 have skyrocketed to household names. With hit music played on satellite radio, Radio Disney, a Playhouse Disney hit show, CD’s, DVD’s, and merchandise, the guys are rising fast and having tons of fun!

I got the chance to talk with Scott “Smitty” Smith as he packed for tour!

While sharing that the show is such a family-fun experience for us, “Smitty” had this to say, “The important thing to us it the show is a shared experience for whole family.”

How do you come up with the music and lyrics?

“We write music that WE like, it’s not aimed at kids per-say, the lyrics are age appropriate but the music itself is stuff that we like to play, what we currently feel or listen to. Our ability to write songs is so fortunate, we are an unlikely quartet, coming from different backgrounds, but stick us in a room together and we write them. We try to write songs with universal themes, songs that can be used anywhere, but ‘Jungle Room’ was specifically for that episode.”

“Smitty” revealed that his favorite episode is “A Treasure in the Warehouse”, which features MY favorite song, “Jungle Room”.  I also learned that a season 2 episode will be about Hawaii….hmm… any ideas on what this idea emergency could be?

When I asked what was next for the Movers, “Smitty” clued me in, “We are hoping to have a season 3, things look good for that. More DVD’s, a film maybe…an idea emergency outside of warehouse, meet up with former guests, not penned yet, but we would really like to do this.”

The show is pretty interactive, so the Movers bring that on tour with them. “We try to run out in the crowd as much as we can…. we are playing live, so we have to be up there and play. Only one song, ‘Brainstorming’ is not live. This tour is the best production. We do play loud, with some rock ‘n’ roll energy, so you will be pleasantly surprised.”

The Movers know that by going on a national tour, some cities were left out.
“Smitty” had this to say, “This is our first national tour, we see that cities have been left off of the tour, but we want to come back around and hit those towns. We’ll be back.”

“Smitty” to fans and parents:

“THANKS FOR WATCHING AND SUPPORTING THE SHOW! Without telling Disney how much you like us, we wouldn’t be here. We can only do this because of you guys. We feel blessed, and fortunate to play music, jump around and entertain families.”

P.S. Did you know “Smitty” carves wood? Yep! The one thing he would bring on the road would be carving materials. It keeps him solid and relaxed!
