So you’re not at work. You’ve got a week off for your holidays that’s been well earnt, but now you have this time on your hands, you’re not sure what to do. This often happens. We wait and wait, fantasizing about all the things we’re going to do now we’re not at work, and then when the day finally arrives, we have no idea what to do. And then before you know it – time’s up, and it’s back to work again for you. You don’t want this to happen, so it’s a good idea to come up with a few ideas in advance, so when you get stuck, you can refer back to any plans that you made.
So the first thing you will want to do is make a rough plan of your week (or however many days you have off). Don’t do this too seriously though – you shouldn’t feel as though you’re writing a business plan – no work here is involved – it should fun. Just scribble down any things that you’d like to do. If you have any friends that are off too, think about adding them to the list and doing things together.
If you’re stuck for ideas though, here are a few to get you started.
Relax at a spa
If you’d enjoy being pampered for the day by massages, hot stones, saunas, swimming pools, and jacuzzis, what better place to go than a spa? There are many wonderful places out there; you just need to do a little looking. Imagine it now; sinking into the hot tub with a glass of champagne in one hand, strawberry in the other, while a member of staff asks you if there’s anything else you need. – It’s heaven. You can either do this on your own for some vital ‘me time’. Or you can invite some of your girlfriends and make a whole day out of it together.
Pick up a book
Reading is such a beautiful thing that tends to be very underrated. People that aren’t your regular bookworms, won’t realize how life-changing it can be – find out on https://www.huffingtonpost.com. But the day you pick up a book that speaks to you – you won’t be able to put it back down until you’re done. Reading is a way of drifting off into a whole other world, and not feeling guilty for it. It allows the mind to create its own pictures, while representing the characters strongly, in such a vivid way that can’t be explained, only felt. Plus you can do it anywhere: your sofa, in bed, in the bath, on the train, in the park – take your story wherever you wish to.
Start cooking new meals
If you consider yourself a bit of a foodie but are used to buying it ready-made, rather than preparing it yourself – why not change that routine? There’s nothing wrong with going out and eating in fancy restaurants, but sometimes it’s so much more rewarding to do it yourself. So have a look online at a few of your favorite dishes, and print out the recipe. Go shopping and get all the ingredients you need, and then start preparing. This should be exciting and not stressful – you’re merely experimenting, so pour yourself a glass of wine and stick on some of your favorite tunes. You could even invite your friends over to taste your success! (Or disaster!)
Get your game on
If you consider yourself a bit of a gamer or are looking for something a little different, why not delve into the virtual world for a while? Take Final Fantasy XV for example; this is a science fiction and fantasy game that involves being various characters trying to save and build your own world. You can explore an empire while making friends with players from all over the world, go hunting for magical treasure, and defeat monsters to ensure you stay on top. If you’d like to give this a go, have a look at https://www.finalfantasyxvapp.com/ and download the app.
Green-thumbed gardening
If you’ve noticed that your garden is a little overgrown and could do with some extra love and care, why not spruce it up a little before the summer arrives? It may be as simple as removing any weeds you have growing, or you might decide to give your garden a full makeover. If you don’t like to get your hands dirty – buy gloves! Being at one with nature is a very therapeutic thing, so while you may not consider gardening very exciting, just give it a go. You may be very surprised at the effect that it has on you.
Encourage your artistic vibes
You don’t need to be an incredible painter or sketch artist to do this. That’s the great thing about it – it can be whatever you want it be. There are no rules – if you want to paint a few circles on a white background and say it’s done – it’s done. Painting is an excellent way or relieving any stress that you have while letting the mind go free. Plus if art is something you genuinely enjoy, you can brush up on your skills and improve. You could even create a piece of artwork to make your home reflect your personality and give guests something interesting to talk about.
Learn an instrument
Let’s face it – who doesn’t love music? It’s such a powerful thing that manages to change your mood within a few seconds just by hearing it. But what if you were able to play a melody yourself? Pick up a guitar or tinkle on the piano and see how it makes you feel. If you’ve never done anything musically before you may need some basic lessons to get you started, but with the beauty of technology nowadays, you can find your own free virtual teacher online thanks to things like YouTube. So have a think about what you’d like to play, and then go for it! You’ve got nothing to lose!
