How To Create A Business From The Ground Up

Sharing is caring!

Creating a business from the ground up is probably one of the most stressful, yet exciting things that you will ever do. If you are just starting your business, or if you are looking to expand, you might have questions about where to start. Here are a few tips when it comes to how to create a business from the ground up:

Find a good location

To create a business from the ground up, you probably need a location to sell out of, or work out of. My advice on this one? Do not settle. There will be a perfect spot for you, but you might need to get creative. There is an Atlanta-based business called Neighbors Feed & Seed and they have been in this same boat for a while now. They had a location that they rented, they had to move because the owners were selling the property, and they have been in search of property since. They ended up getting a temporary location by REV Coffee, but now, they think they finally found a lot. The only issue is that it’s residential, instead of commercial, so they are asking their customers to email city council members, in hopes of securing this lot and getting the zoning changed from residential to commercial. All of that to say – sometimes, the perfect lot or building does not come gift-wrapped perfectly and delivered to your doorstep. Just like Neighbors Feed & Seed has done, you might have to get creative and work for your perfect spot. Just do not give up!

Perfect your office space

Once you find a good location for your business, it’s time to get to work making it the perfect office space. You might have to build your building, or maybe it already comes with a building and you just have to perfect your office space. Either way, get to work making the space perfect for your business services, employees, and of course, yourself and your products. This definitely takes a lot of time, work, and effort, but it’s worth it in the end when everything comes together.

Find employees

Once you are up and running after finding and perfecting your office space, you will definitely need employees, if you do not already have them. Again – be picky with this. You want people who are committed to your business and ready to work. Follow your gut when hiring people!

Share the news about your business

Once you’ve done that, the next step is to share the news about your business. People need to discover what you’re doing.

But how do you do that? Well, it all comes down to branding and the tools you use to get your message out there.

If you have a very experiential business, you might want to go to events and use digital signs. These can help your clientele find out more about you and what you stand for.

Another approach is to share content online, particularly if you are doing something cerebral. Newsletters, podcasts, and even books can help cement your authority.

Thrive from your passion

Last but not least, there are a lot of businesses out there, but how can you stand out? In my opinion, there are two ways: offer service and thrive from your passion. When it comes to service, you want to be the best of the best and prove that time and time again by giving your customers an amazing, stress-free experience or product. If you love what you do and have a heart for your company, you will stand out just by being passionate about your line of work.

Outsource

Last but not least, to run an efficient business, it is pretty essential to outsource when you can. Depending on your business, you might need to outsource incoming calls, security, or even use apps and other technology to get help with processes, like deliveries.
