5 Mother's Day Gifts to Make With Essential Oils

Mother’s Day is coming up and you want to give your mom something from the heart – a handmade gift is the perfect solution! There are so many things you can make for your dear mom – here are 5 recipes for gifts you can make with essential oils!

Relaxing Salt Scrub

Combine relaxing essential oils with sea salt for an exfoliating salt scrub that invigorates the senses.

Ingredients:

  • Sea Salt
  • Olive Oil
  • Lavender Essential Oil

Directions: This scrub couldn’t be easier! Fill a glass jar 3/4 full with sea salt and add enough olive oil to cover the salt. Add 5 drops of lavender essential oil per ounce. (ie. Have a 4 oz. jar? Add 20 drops of essential oil.)

Moisturizing Body Oil

Botanical oils and aromatherapeutic essential oils moisturize mom’s skin and calm her spirit. What else could a mother ask for?

Ingredients:

  • Jojoba oil
  • Grapeseed oil
  • Lavender essential oil
  • Frankincense essential oil

Directions: Combine ingredients in a glass bottle, using equal parts of the carrier oils jojoba and grapeseed. Using a plastic bottle is not ideal, because essential oils can degrade certain plastics over time. Use 10 drops of essential oil per ounce of carrier oil. For example, if you have a 6 ounce glass bottle, you would fill it half and half with grapeseed and jojoba, then add 30 drops each of lavender and frankincense essential oils.

Anti-Aging Facial Serum

If your mom happens to be a beauty buff, she will love this face serum. You don’t have to say this is anti-aging for the more sensitive mom… but it totally is! This face serum also moisturizes and adds a glow to her complexion.

Ingredients:

  • Avocado oil
  • Frankincense essential oil
  • Carrot seed essential oil

Directions: Fill a 1 oz. glass bottle (with a dropper) with avocado oil. Be sure to leave enough room for the dropper or it will overflow! Use this bottle – right up to the curve at the neck of the bottle is perfect. Add 10 drops each of frankincense essential oil and carrot seed essential oil and turn the bottle gently to combine.

Essential Oil Perfume

Perfume is a standard Mother’s Day gift – but this one is handmade and contains ZERO toxins!

Ingredients:

  • Witch hazel
  • Ylang ylang essential oil
  • Lavender essential oil
  • Clary sage essential oil

Directions: Fill a 1 oz. glass spray bottle with witch hazel. Add 10 drops each of ylang ylang, lavender, and clary sage essential oils and turn gently to combine.

Lemon Pie Moisturizing Body Butter

This body butter smells just like lemon pie! Alternatively, you can use another essential oil to change up the fragrance. It’s made from ingredients you can find at your grocery store and penetrates to the skin’s deepest layers – no fillers, toxic preservatives, or water required!

Ingredients:

  • Coconut oil
  • Shea butter
  • Jojoba oil
  • Lemongrass essential oil

Directions: Add 1/3 cup coconut oil, 1/3 cup shea butter, 1/2 cup jojoba oil and 15 drops of lemongrass to your blender. Pulse until the butter has a creamy consistency and transfer to a large glass jar.

Your mom is sure to love any of these handmade essential oil gifts!

Which one will you make? If you’re a mom, which one would you most love to receive?
