When planning your Paris staycation, you will want to be sure you have something to occupy your family each day. Take a look below at 5 family friendly activities to enjoy your Paris staycation even more. These activities are frugal, fun, and perfect for all ages to enjoy. Take a look at these ideas so your Paris staycation will be one that is full of adventure.
1. Enjoy a Parisian brunch.
Why not head to a local French eatery for brunch. If you don’t have a local French eatery, try French inspired options at a local restaurant. This can include cheese and bread dishes, crepes, and fresh fruit salads. Don’t forget to wear your fancy accessories such as scarves and sunglasses.
2. Go for a hillside bike ride and Parisian picnic.
Parisians love riding their bikes and taking in all of the scenery. Hop on your bikes and plan a scenic route through town and into any hillsides you may have. Take a picnic with you (French inspired snacks of course!) and enjoy a break mid ride to eat and refuel. If you really want to feel Parisian, tie a basket onto the front of your bike!
3. Build your own Eiffel Tower.
The Eiffel Tower is one of the most famous sites of Paris. Build your own as a family fun activity. You can use any materials you wish. Some ideas may be paper, paper mache, clay, toothpicks, scrap paper, empty containers, etc. Try creating your own and see what you can come up with. If you are really ambitious, try stringing lights on it so it lights up just like the real one does. There are even building kits you can purchase if you don’t want to DIY it.
4. Have a speak in French Day.
Print out cheat sheets of some commonly used French words and phrases. Dedicate a day to only speaking in French. If that is too much, try just an hour or two. Practice the words together and even watch some movies in French (Netflix or your local library may have some) so you can hear the language in action.
5. Have a cheese tasting.
Buy an assortment of French cheeses and bread and have a cheese tasting party. Use your fancy cutting boards and cutters to prepare the cheese and make mini markers to mark each flavor. You can even pair the cheese with grape juice instead of wine and offer grapes and fresh fruit. Taste each one and rate them on a poster board as to which ones are your favorite.
These are just a few of the activities you can try when you create your own Paris staycation. Give them a try and see how easy it is to feel like you are right in the middle of this beautiful city!
