Does driving an RV sound like more or less effort than a car? And does it sound more or less stressful? At first, if you’ve never done it before, most people are probably going to assume that it’s the car that’s easier because it’s smaller, it’s familiar, and you can park it more easily, among all kinds of other things.
However, although those things are technically accurate, the fact is that once you get behind the wheel of an RV, it can often feel very natural and easy – and less stressful when you’re on the road. With that in mind, here are some of the reasons why.

You’re Not Rushing Between Stops
When you’re travelling by car, you’ll usually have a definite destination in mind, whether that’s work, school, the shops, a friend’s house, an attraction, or anything else. You’ll get in the car at point A and get out at point B, and that’s it.
When you’re driving an RV, that’s not necessarily the case – an RV is meant for longer trips, and proper breaks away from home, so you’re not always going to have an exact destination in mind. And if you don’t have anywhere to be at any particular time, that’s sure to be less stressful.
Everything You Need Is With You
Another reason why it’s a lot less stressful to drive an RV compared to a car is that you can fit more things into an RV. Of course, it’s always good to pack light, but when it comes to basic facilities and home comforts like a toilet, somewhere to store (and cook) food, a bed, and so on, that’s just not something a car can offer you.
In an RV, it won’t matter what delays you run into or what you decide to do with your time because you’ll have everything you need with you, so you can stop or keep driving, and it’s not going to make any difference.
You’re Not Tied To Fixed Plans
Flexible travel plans are the least stressful of them all, and your travel plans do tend to feel a lot more flexible when you’re in an RV. There are a few reasons for that, but one is that you don’t always have to pre-book accommodation and make reservations for somewhere to eat – you can go to an RV park and cook your own food if you prefer, and you can stay for as little or as much time as you want.
When you’re not going by the clock all the time, life slows down, you’ll feel more relaxed, and you’ll probably have a better time altogether anyway.
It Feels More Controlled
Although we’ve said that you can be really flexible when you’re taking a trip in an RV, there’s also a nice sense of control that comes with it because you’re the one that gets to decide where to go and when.
If there’s anything that’s going to reduce how stressed you feel, it’s got to be being in control.
