What It Means To Love Our Dogs

Sharing is caring!

We adopted two dogs, a mother and daughter pair, in February 2013. We had actually gone to a pet store adoption event just to “look” and meet the animals that were up for adoption. We had no intention of adopting that day. The employees directed us to the shelter a few blocks away, and after our pet store visit we made the short drive to see even more dogs.

We were greeted by big dogs, small dogs, quiet dogs, loud dogs, dogs of all breeds and ages. The kids were with us, so they thought this was just a fun adventure for them. But with each passing pair of eyes or wag of a tail, we felt our hearts opening more and more to the idea of adopting. We KNEW we would adopt (some day), but when we agreed to let the staff bring us to a private room to meet two dogs they thought were PERFECT for us… well, we had no idea.

Tweak and Jesse had been there for months. The shelter did not want to seperate them – Jesse is Tweak’s mom. Separating the two would be too emotional for everyone, human and animal. They were passed on time and time again for families wanting just one dog, or a smaller dog, or a “less vicious” animal – you see, they are American Staffordshire mixes. Jesse looks like a pit, and sure, that can be intimidating to some, but I assure you that she’s too old and slow to want to bother you.

When we met them, we fell in love. It hit us hard, it hit us fast, and the story ends with us signing the adoption papers, taking out “Gotcha Day” picture, announcing it on social media, and an emergency trip to the pet store for all of their essentials.

Because they are older dogs, Jesse came to us with the need to take thyroid medication as well as “old lady hips” AKA she’s slower but still full of life and kisses. We have welcomed them into our homes from the moment we said yes. By doing so, we are also responsible for their health. Just like our children, their health is important and it matters to us.

One way that we ensure their happiness and health is by using K9 Advantix® II?. Just like we get annoyed with bugs while outside playing, so do our dogs. By using K9 Advantix® II?, we can help keep them free of fleas, ticks, mosqitoes, and flies. No more bites, no more scratching, no more jumping up because something has bit them or itches. It’s not hard to provide the care that they need, K9 Advantix® II? is applied in 4-6 spots, depending on your dog’s size. It’s quick, it’s easy, and it’s effective. This preventative measure means we don’t have to worry about them bringing fleas into the house.

I know that if you are a dog owner, you love them just as much as any child or family member. Be a good dog parent and make sure to check out K9 Advantix® II for your flea and tick prevention! Your dog deserves it!
