If you are within driving distance of Mason, Ohio and love to fly through the air on roller coasters that leave you hoarse from the screaming (no, just me?) then you absolutely need to head to Kings Island. If you can get away from the kids, going during the Banshee Brew Festival is an absolute must for anyone interested in sampling brews from local breweries after a day of thrill rides!
The Banshee Brew Festival was an adults-only experience (must be 21 or older to enter the festival area) that was held May 6, 7, 13 and 14 2016 inside the park (additional admission is required, but totally worth it). It combined delicious meal options with dozens of brews from local breweries with live music. A winning combination for a date night! For your admission, you are given 15 drink tickets and 2 meal tickets. Basically, you can sample FIFTEEN different beers and hard ciders and two entrees. The Italian Sausage and Tortellini was delicious!
Your admission gives you that cute little beer mug that is a perfect sampling size – large enough for a 5 ounce sample! At each station, they would rinse it out for you so you could try something new. There were so many options, you can pace yourself and enjoy as much or as little as you want.
I snapped pictures along the way as we found things we liked. If you love supporting local businesses, this is a great way to sample and learn more about breweries and craft beers.
Our visit was cold (seriously, for May it was only in the 40s!) but we had so much fun! The live band, What She Said was great and played music that everyone could enjoy (80s to now hits). We watched the cutest older couple having the time of their lives, enjoying their craft beer samples maybe a little too much. We watched corn hole matches and of course, people watched. Before the festival, we checked out rides, debated over the wait times, wondered why teenagers couldn’t bother to wear coats (or pants), and even visited Dinosaurs Alive!
An entire day without kids meant we could just take our time, do what we wanted, and have fun. We’ve been married 10 years now, date nights are precious (especially date DAYS, when we are gone for 12 hours!) and I absolutely love the time we get to spend together. The Kings Island Banshee Brew Festival was the perfect way to spend a chilly day together! If you can get away during a weekday, buy a Weekday Saver Admission ticket online save $21!
This summer is a great time to plan a visit to Kings Island, take a look at the upcoming events to start planning your trip! I spy a food truck festival!
