When I pull out our calendar and look back at the past twelve months or so, there’s really only one thing that comes to mind – these kids were busy! Between attending two different practices for cheerleading, there were baseball practices and games, soccer practices and games, swimming lessons and school functions. With much of our time spent out of the house, our poor minivan fills up with books and toys the kids take and then promise to bring back inside when we return. Well, that never happens unless it’s something amazing and we might have found “the toy” that doesn’t get left – the PLAYMOBIL Take Along Police Station

Don’t be shy, hover over the above image to purchase PLAYMOBIL sets like these from Walmart!

Now, sometimes the kids get lucky and have a playground that’s close enough to the game or practice that they can play at with other tag-along siblings, but other times they don’t. It’s those times that they bring along all sorts of things, and now when they want to, they can bring PLAYMOBIL figures and vehicles and use their imagination to create their own fun.

I love to see what scenarios they come up with when they playing. Sometimes they act out movies or TV shows, sometimes they come up with these crazy little things all on their own or it’s a mash-up of things. I never want to see them lose that imagination and ability to be creative and feel free to just do and be what they want.

They PLAYMOBIL Take Along sets like this one are pretty cool and all of the little pieces store right inside. This is great for when they take it in the van, and even just moving it from room to room inside the house. No one likes to lose the little bits and pieces that make play come to life even more!

Did you know Walmart carries PLAYMOBIL toys? I noticed this a while ago and was really excited! The sets and additional vehicles and figures let you put together entire worlds and being available in the same store we get our team snacks at is a bonus! I’m pretty sure we’ll be going back to add to our emergency services collection that has started – it lets them pretend with such important figures in our community and also, dad works for an ambulance company so they know all about medics!

Imaginative play lets kids explore their interests and learn about new things, like occupations such as police officers and firefighters. To encourage imaginative play:

  1. Make toys available that allow them to pretend play and improvise. Swap out some of the pieces for crafting supplies and have them improvise buildings, clothing, accessories, etc.
  2. Bring pretend play on the go. Going to the park? Bring along accessories or outfits and let them use the play equipment as their house or castle.
  3. Join them! Give them prompts for locations but don’t give them too much information, let them come up with their own situations and characters. It’s just like improvisational acting!

I’m happy to bring along these PLAYMOBIL sets to sports practices and games if it means Gavin or Haley will have fun, stay safe and be present to support each other! Now to get them to clean out the van to make room once spring sports start back up!
