When becoming a new mom there is certainly a lot to focus on, and it can be very easy to run yourself into the ground. You can find your energy levels depleting by the second but you still manage to somehow carry on. You will hear all sorts of different stories from all kinds of mums, some who wore their pre-pregnancy jeans home from the hospital and some that have still got that tummy three years down the line. There is most definitely no right or wrong way to cope when you become a new mom but one thing is for sure, you are going to want to think about your energy levels and fitness. They do go hand in hand at the end of the day you will soon have a toddler to be running after!
Have a look below at some of the easy ways you can get your energy levels back up and slowly build in exercise at the same time:
Get Walking
Often considered as not enough exercise for some walking can be a great way of sneaking in exercise and slowly building your energy levels as you feel up to it. Not only is walking like secret exercise that you don’t notice it can be the perfect exercise for a new mum, especially in the first few weeks of recovery. Let’s face it you’re not going to be going out for a run. Plus there’s nothing saying that you can’t burn just as many calories, it will just take you longer! It’s also brilliant for when you start to notice a certain time that your new baby is more cranky, a walk in the fresh air could be just what they need just as much as you.
Involve The Kids
If you’re creating healthy habits for yourself right from the start of your little one’s life then you will be passing on healthy habits for their future. Start by taking them out in the stroller and then as they get older start to venture a little further, maybe go for a hike or invest in a bike seat for some family cycles. You can also do things such as baby workout where you complete routines whilst holding the baby such as squats and lunges, you may not want to push yourself to exercise but by doing so you will be sure to increase your energy levels in the process.
Nutrition And Water
Most important factors to any energy level and exercise goals is how well you are eating and drinking. You may have overindulged when pregnant (and who can blame you) but one of the easiest ways to increase energy levels is to make sure your eating and drinking the correct amounts and the right things. Sometimes people look into using a Weight loss Supplement along with their new diet too. You need to feed your body right in order for it to function properly, so instead of reaching for the handy biscuits try researching some healthier options and do some meal prep. You could always introduce a water bottle to your baby bag which will remind you to drink throughout the day.
You should always approach any changes to your lifestyle routine slowly, even more so if you’re a new mum. Always listen to your body and enjoying showing your kids what a healthy lifestyle looks like. Do you have any other tips for increasing your energy levels and fitness?
