Your health is composed of many complex and interdependent parts. Many people view their health through a very limited lens, for example, focusing on fitness and food. Of course, these are crucial parts of your health,  but there are also many other components, such as eyesight, hearing, oral health, mental health, and more. When you can begin to recognize that your wellbeing is made up of lots of other parts and is interconnected, you can begin to positively influence your health and wellbeing. This will have a knock-on effect on your wellbeing, happiness, relationships, longevity, and more.

To help you on your journey, here are some important components of your health that you must consider.

#1 Mental health

Your mental health and physical health are more closely linked than you may think. They are inseparable. When your mental health is low, you are more likely to be impacted by physical ailments, such as heart disease and diabetes. When your physical health is not doing very well, you will find that it negatively influences your mood, cognitive abilities, and more. This can lead to more stress, anxiety, and low moods. Many people do not realize just how powerful the mind-body connection is and how one impacts the other. To approach your health more holistically, you need to balance them both.

#2 Sleep

Sleep is one of the most important things in your health and wellbeing journey, yet it is the most neglected. It is easy to sacrifice hours of sleep for scrolling on your phone, staying up late to finish work, or going out with friends. You want to live your life, but you need to consider your sleep. Without quality and quantity of sleep, you will not be able to function properly, your energy and mood will be low, and it will begin to impact your family, your relationships, your work, and more. Your mental and physical health will go downhill.

#3 Stress management

Stress is something that occurs every day. It isn’t always the stress that is the problem, but the triggers you expose yourself to and the way that you manage your stress. You must work towards surrounding yourself with better people to reduce your triggers. You should also consider learning how to manage stress better, as it will significantly improve your health. Chronic stress leads to many health issues. Learn how to breathe for stress to calm your nervous system down, or consider taking a walk when things get tough. You need to be able to move in and out of the stressed state.

#4 Oral, eye, and hearing health

Important parts of your health also include things like oral, eye, and hearing health. When one of these is neglected, it can lead to bigger health concerns. For example, oral health, if not taken care of properly, can lead to gum disease, which can lead to heart issues.

Your eyesight and hearing are something that inevitably deteriorates with age, but that doesn’t mean it is not something that you should take care of. You should speak to a specialist to seek the right kind of glasses to support your vision. When it comes to your ears, there are multiple ways to manage your hearing, with the support of an audiologist. They will be able to help improve your hearing, which, if neglected, can begin to impact your mental health with social isolation and your cognitive function. You may have to wear a hearing aid, and learn more about how to manage life with a hearing aid, as there are many factors that can impact the use of hearing aids, for example, how spring weather affects hearing aid use. But when you take steps to seek the right kind of support, you will be able to help yourself and support your overall health.

Health isn’t just exercise and food. It extends beyond all of that and includes things like sleep, stress, and hearing.
