Yesterday (5/2) was my 25th birthday! Whoop whoop!
It got me thinking… this is totally not where I saw myself being at 25!
Back in elementary school, I would have said something like, “I’ll be a teacher.”
Junior high I probably would have said the same, or maybe that I was living in NYC or even Paris.
High school, the early years, I probably said that I’d be done with college and maybe married… MAYBE pregnant or have one child.
The last two years of high school, I would definitely be married with a child, and we’d be buying a house or already have purchased, and would be enjoying our little family.
Okay, so for the most part that DID happen – married, we bought a house, but we have THREE children. That college thing never happened, neither did living in NYC or Paris (a visit to NYC, yes, but not living there). I remember talking with DH (then just my boyfriend) back in high school that after I graduated, we were going to move to NYC and he would be a fire fighter and we’d have a cute little apartment.
My it’s funny how we dream these things up!
I couldn’t ask for any better birthday gifts then what I already have – a wonderful husband and 3 amazing, beautiful children. I don’t need material things to celebrate (although a cake would have been nice people! Mom shouldn’t always have to make her own… days later.). I’m quite happy with the way things are.
