“Doing good” is something I believe we all should be doing, but sometimes, as busy moms being pulled a million directions, it can be hard to find what works for us. I get it, I’ve been there. We want to be amazing role models for our little ones, so even when we are stretched thin, there are ways that we can “do good” and support causes that mean something to us and even involve our families and pets in. I know, seems a bit odd, but check this out!
Shopping at Dollar General can be an easy way to facilitate supporting our communities and our troops.
With our two dogs, we go through quite a bit of dog food so you’ll know we’ll be back to Dollar General a few more times to pick up more Purina Dog Chow, and it’s a great way to support our veterans! (Learn more about that HERE) It’s so easy to stop in for what we need and finding everything is so easy.
I also love shopping there for things like food pantry donations, clothing drives, school supply donation drives, just about anything! These are all things that your family can participate in, too.
Another great idea is enlisting your family and friends to put together care packages for service members stationed overseas! You can fill boxes with everything purchased from Dollar General! This would make a great service project for scouting troops, if you happen to be a leader or know of one!
Always be on the lookout for ways your family can do something to support veterans! Spring cleaning or moving and have home furnishings or clothing you no longer need? You can donate these. If you’d rather organize a yard sale, consider donating a portion of your profit to a local veterans organization.
See a booth selling something delicious but would rather not eat it yourself? See if you can make a donation without receiving something in return! Some organizations let you purchase and donate the item TO the cause, so be sure to ask!
Another fantastic idea – purchase bags of Purina Dog Chow to donate to your local animal shelter! You are helping local dogs AND supporting our military – talk about a win-win!
