Enough With The Pregnancy Scares Already

Sharing is caring!

29 weeks pregnant, 29 weeks fetus, 29 weeks pregnancy

This pregnancy has been everything but smooth. At 10 weeks I was diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism and put on blood thinners (which I still inject daily, and they still aren’t fun). The morning sickness lasted until 20 weeks, and wasn’t limited to just the morning. The night before Christmas Eve I had 4-5 Braxton Hicks contractions in a 55 minute time period and had my doctor paged. I didn’t go in since they weren’t painful, but since then I have them daily. At my last appointment (just this past Tuesday), my blood pressure was higher then normal. I go back next week to have it checked again.

Then yesterday happened.

I will keep this as family-friendly as possible. I woke up and made my usual bathroom trip and noticed some discharge. Meh, that’s pretty normal. It wasn’t colored and didn’t raise any concern. A couple of hours later I made another trip (please stop squishing my bladder, baby!)… and had more discharge. It went from just a pinky-nail size amount to palm-full size. I sat there fearing I was losing my mucus plug and called my doctor to get a hold of a nurse. Luckily, I got through pretty quickly and she took down ALL of the details (there’s a lot I left out here, for your sake) and said she would talk to the doctor and see what he wants to do.

Over an hour later I got a call back. The doctor wants an ultrasound to check my cervical length, and from the way the nurse is talking, they want me there NOW. It gets scheduled for 4:30, meaning I have 4 hours to sit and wait and worry. Fun.

So I finally get to the hospital where my doctor’s office is. It’s been snowing all day and it’s cold and I just want to take off running to get inside and get on the table and make sure everything is okay.

I got to see that. I got to see my beautiful chubby little boy moving, sticking his tongue out, and even put a FOOT by his face! The technician watched my cervix for a minute or two to watch for any changes and pointed out that there is still some fluid/discharge within so I’ll still experience that, but that everything is okay. Apparently any cervical length over 2 cm is good, and mine was 4 something.

Everything is fine. My hips, however, hurt from the obviously man-invented stirrups portion of the ultrasound, but otherwise I’m good. I still have my blood pressure appointment for next week, and hopefully we will learn our little one’s birth day (scheduled c-section). It’s less then 10 weeks from now though… less then 10 weeks until I’m touching that tiny little face, the tiny little fingers, the tiny feet that push and kick constantly.

Let’s just keep the scares away, okay? I’ve had enough.

I’m 29 weeks and 5 days today
