Your career may be standing in your way when it comes to your happiness, and if this is the case then you’ll need to do something about it. If you know that you are in the wrong job then it may be time for you to make a drastic change, but if you are too scared to make that change or if you have no idea how you are going to go about doing it then this can put you in a very bad position. If you are not sure if you are in the right job or not, then think to yourself, are you happy? You should also ask yourself if you see yourself doing this for the rest of your life, and if you are happy to talk about your job to other people. If you can’t imagine any of this then only you can make that change, and there has never been a better time for you to take back control of your life, even if you have no idea what you’re doing.
What Do You Want To Do?
When changing your career, you may find it hard to know what you want to do. You’ll probably spend all day wrapped up in your duvet, thinking where it all went wrong. You may also bury your head in career books in hopes that someone else will provide you with the answers you’re looking for. The truth is that you won’t find what you’re looking for by doing this, and you really do need to find out what you want to do deep down. Think about what you’re good at, do you want a job that is more physical? Do you want to help people? Are you a thinker? All of this will help you to make the most out of your career change, it is a great way for you to plan out your own future. The one thing you won’t want to do is take an online career test because they are a complete joke and they won’t get you anywhere.
Don’t Go Out and LOOK For a Job
This may sound counter-productive, but if you do want to try and find something different then you should try and avoid looking for a job. The job market is not catered for those who are looking for a career change and if you have no experience then this will only set you up for failure. The more time you spend looking online for jobs, the more disheartened you’ll get and this can lead you to taking a job that you don’t really want (again). So how do you avoid all of this? There are a couple of things that you can do, and one of them is to work with other people to try and find the right opportunity. Ask your friends to put in a recommendation for you, and work with a career coach so that you can get some more ideas. Your career change is going to be for the long-term and it is not something that you can sort out in a day. You really do need to enjoy this stage, because even though it is stressful, it is probably going to set you up for the rest of your life.
Take an Online Course
As mentioned above, you don’t want to go out looking for a job with all of your time. If you do then you will only face constant rejection because there is a high chance that you have no experience in your chosen industry. One way for you to get around this would be for you to invest your time into bettering yourself. You’ll want to try and take an online course in your spare time, and an online msn program is great for this, especially if you want to branch out into the nursing or healthcare industry. You can still apply for jobs during this time, but make sure that you don’t put all of your time and energy into it. You’ll want to really take things slow and plan out how you are going to make yourself more appealing to employers, and this includes building your experience, taking courses and even getting to know more people. When you do this, the job will come around on its own. You could even try and connect with people on social media who work in the industry you want to work in, and this is a brilliant way to get the conversation started.
