Beautiful flowers, birds, a waterfall, mineral baths – where else can you find these? All of them can be found at the beautiful Diamond Falls Botanical Gardens in Saint Lucia. The waterfall may have been my favorite part of this popular attraction, just so beautiful.
There are many signs like that that provide some information about the trees and the various plant species. Very informative and needed because I didn’t recognize a single one! We saw some really beautiful flowers with such bright colors and everything was so tropical and new to us.
Aren’t these just so fun? I loved these! As you’re walking through the botanical garden, you wind your way through to where the waterfall is and then you come back out. Along the way are the mineral baths, restrooms and a concession type area. We were at just the right pace because after we started walking back from the waterfall, it started to rain. Seriously, nothing better than a downpour in the rainforest!

In 1713, three Devaux brothers were granted 2000 acres of land by King Louis XIV for services to Crown & Country. This area covered from from Anse Mamin to and as far back as.
The Diamond Botanical Gardens sit on the original site of the spring baths which were built in 1784. These baths were built so that the troops of King Louis XVI of France could take advantage of the waters therapeutic powers.
How cool is that? So amazing to think of what Saint Lucia must have looked like back then!
I think it’s a given that you take a selfie at the waterfall. Who wouldn’t?
This beautiful waterfall is approximately 17 metres in height and is a mixture of rainwater and volcanism fed by the Sulphur Springs. The flow of water varies at different times of year but is always spectacular.The water is laced with minerals, sulphur, copper sulphate, magnesium, iron, manganese and calcium, all contributing to the kaleidoscope of colours that adjourn the rock face behind the falls.
The rock face continues to change colour depending on the mineral content at any given point in time.
I would definitely recommend visiting Diamond Waterfall and the botanical gardens. You won’t spend much time there, but it’s a nice little walk (well-maintained pathway) and if you love floral and fauna, you’ll have plenty to see!
