When preparing for your Paris staycation, you will want to be sure you pack everything you will need to ensure a good time is had by all. Take a look below at an easy reference list we have created to help you get the most out of your Paris staycation. These 7 must have items will make your “trip” one that is sure to be memorable and exciting! The best part? All of these items are easy to come by and inexpensive! Take a look.
1. Disposable camera.
Give each child a disposable camera so they can photo document all of your activities through their own eyes. They can even use the pictures to create a photo journal when they are done. It is a fun way to get them personally involved in the trip.
2. Flag of France
Hang the French flag in your home so you can feel like you are right in the midst of it. Hang the colors of France in your home as well via balloons and streamers if you wish.
3. A cheese board, cutter.
Take this opportunity to sample a variety of French cheeses. Head to your local home goods store and buy an inexpensive cheese board and cutter. This way, you are preparing and enjoying gourmet cheeses just as the locals do!
4. This is Paris Book by Miroslav Sasek.
In this book, children will learn all about Paris in a way that is fun and child friendly. This timeless book comes from a collection of travel books for children and is a great way to introduce them to new worlds and experiences. Feel free to pick up other guide books – my favorites are by Rick Steves!
5. Silk scarves and fancy accessories.
When in “Paris” you want to wear your best fashions. Have plenty of silk scarves, play handbags, sunglasses, and stylish accessories that you can dress up in for your activities.
6. Translation App
Download a French translation app on your phone or iPad so you can enjoy learning new French words and explore the French language a little more. Learn common phrases and try having short conversations in French. Google Translate is a free app you can try. You can also explore Duolingo to dive further into actually learning to speak French.
7. A fancy basket.
You will want a basket to carry all of your market treasures in, so be sure you have one that each person can carry around. These are great for holding bread, cheese, and other findings. Let each person decorate their basket prior to the staycation!
Gather these materials so your Paris staycation can be the best one ever! As you can see, they are all common and inexpensive items, so start gathering and prepare for your Paris staycation in style.
