Baby Girl Is 2 Weeks Old!

Sharing is caring!

We made it to 2 weeks and I haven’t pulled my hair out! No, really, that’s an accomplishment with a newborn, a 1 year old, and an almost 7 year old.

I’m trying to steal a few minutes to quickly type up a post, but it seems anytime that I tried to today, someone started crying. It doesn’t help that G is not only teething a top tooth, but he’s got a cold (thanks big brother B for sharing your germs!). That’s making for some rough nights – rougher then just having a newborn. Sleep is a little non-existent for me these days.

Reaching 2 weeks old means we reached a breastfeeding milestone of 2 weeks! Woo hoo!

This is a big deal because if you read about my experience with G, you know that I deal with IGT. I knew it would be an issue this time, and I did a TON of reading and researching.

I immediately started my regimen of herbs and supplements when she was born (well, a couple of days after).

I’m currently taking:

Fenugreek capsules – 4 capsules, 4 times a day
Goat’s Rue – 40 drops, 3 times a day (this is a major one, known to increase breast tissue)
More Milk Special Blend – 2ml, 3 times a day (has fenugreek and goat’s rue, but also a few other things to help out)
Leptaden – 2 pills, 3 times a day

I’m also eating oats, and I made up several dozen cookie dough balls of lactation cookies for the freezer (which reminds me, I need to pull some out to pop in the oven!) and munch on those throughout the day (and night!). I’m also really chugging the water, and occasional Gatorade or Powerade to help out when I know I haven’t been doing good with the water.

I’m trying to pump after feeds as well, but with the other 2 needing my attention, this is becoming a real chore. I’m going to try different ways, like using the battery pack and pumping while feeding G his lunch, while folding laundry or cleaning up the kitchen. I also have a manual pump which I was able to use today on one side while Baby Girl nursed the other. That went well, but only because B was at school and G was asleep! I need to pump – it will help with supply. I just need to be ABLE to pump.

I’m still in awe that DH and I created another gorgeous child, and that we were blessed with a daughter. It feels strange, all of this pink in our house full of cars and action figures.

We did a newborn photo shoot last week, and the photographer’s little girl asked me to help put a bow in her hair. I was stumped. I’m a girl, I should know how to do it, right? Wrong! I straight up told her I had no idea what I was doing, but I tried. She ripped it out, handed it to her mom and had her mom do it. I guess I need some practice!
