Spending a day in Cincinnati with kids can be a lot of fun but also exhausting. They want to run and run, so you might end up rushing through things and even missing fun activities because there’s not enough time before someone is hungry or just done for the day. If you can, however, sneak away for a day WITHOUT the kids… then you can explore the city LIKE a kid. What do I mean? Well, Cincinnati has so many kid-oriented attractions that sometimes, you need to live a little and have fun!
For a kid-free day of fun for adults, here’s a plan for Cincinnati!
What’s better than cute animals? Nothing! If you get to the zoo early, right when they open, you can see every exhibit before the crowds move in. The zoo is not just for warm weather either, don’t be afraid to go when it’s chilly – just dress for the weather and have fun!
I’m sensing a theme here, so if this is too many animals for you, it’s okay. If you can, though, definitely check out the aquarium! I’ve found that Sunday’s right when they open are pretty dead, so you can walk through without having to dodge little ones or have an obstructed view.
By now you are probably hungry so you can easily head to the Newport Kroger in Kentucky to check out their newly remodeled deli and have a sit-down lunch. Yes, inside Kroger.
For just $5 a meal, you can pick from four meals (family meals are available too) and then pick up a Coca-Cola® drink of your choice. After a morning of exploring, a sit-down lunch will energize you for sure!
For your afternoon, you’ll do a bit of sightseeing. You can check out all kinds of tours at American Legacy Tours to suit your tastes. Ghosts, food, history, there’s something for everyone!
Since you’re still in the Newport area, you can head back to where the aquarium is and browse around Newport on the Levee. You can catch a movie, go bowling, or my favorite – Sweet Dreams Candy Company! Yes, a candy store! It’s the perfect sweet ending to your day!
There are other ways to fill your day, depending on the season and day of the week. During baseball season you can catch a ball game, during football season you could see two different teams play. There are so many ways to plan a fun, kid-free day in Cincinnati!
