We have four dogs. They are not only super chill and laid back, they have their napping game down. It’s great but it also means we have a whole lot of toys and balls that just sit around, not being played with. So, this means we get to spoil our girls and guy in other ways! It’s surprising just how many ways you can spoil a dog!
Just like I spoil myself each morning with a cup of coffee, my favorite creamer, all inside that day’s mug choice, I can start each morning with the dogs with a bit of spoiling as well.
First things first, we give medications. A necessity, and not so much spoiling as just being a responsible pet owner, but still it’s what we do to show them we love them.
After that, it’s time to eat! Four bowls, fresh water for all, and a flurry of activity as everyone realizes it’s time to eat. What we feed our dogs is really important to us, and it’s important that when you are a pet owner, you pay attention to what they are eating. Be mindful of excessive itching – it could mean they are allergic to something. I’m certainly not a medical professional, but we’ve seen firsthand how changing their diet can result in less itching, so it’s worth investigating.
Feeding your dog natural and quality food is one of the most important decisions you’ll make. Another great way to spoil your dog is with bedding. Blankets, memory foam dog beds, heated dog beds – just take a look at your favorite pet store to see the options! We have a sofa that is basically “the dogs”, a dog bed, and anytime a blanket is left on the floor, it’s quickly claimed by a dog.
Treats! Oh, the treats. That little surprise treats when they come in from the backyard, or just because, is the most fun way to spoil and love them. There are so many to choose from, but we love these homemade peanut butter, banana, and coconut oil frozen treats!
Still need more ways to spoil your dog? Go for long walks or visit a new dog park! Both offer exercise, fresh air, and a chance to socialize with other dogs and owners. Bring along a dog-friendly water bottle to keep them hydrated and don’t forget the always fun to carry around poo bags!
Treat your dog to regular grooming – bathing, brushing, nail trims and ear cleanings to keep them happy, smelling good, and healthy. Simple things like visiting the groomer or pet store can brighten any dog’s day.
