Fun Family Getaways With Kids

Sharing is caring!

As parents we all want to do everything we can to make our kids childhood’s special, we really only do get a few years where they’re little and everything feels like magic. That’s not to say that things are always easy (especially when it comes to travel!) but regardless of how stressful it can get at times, there’s no denying that you’ll look back at the trips you took as a family with rose tinted glasses in the future. So if you can, make it happen! Book the trip and go on the adventure, you don’t need loads of money or even huge chunks of time off work, there are plenty of ways you can make things special and memorable. If you want to do something fun and a little bit different, here are a few ideas.

Treehouse Camping

If you’re after something that’s got brilliant novelty factor but doesnt cost the earth, how about treehouse camping?! There are RV parks that offer this, so there’s all the usual amenities on the site but it’s much more fun than staying in a tent or campervan. It’s pretty much a cabin on stilts! Where you go and how much you spend is what will determine how luxurious it is inside so you can go with what suits your budget. But even with just the basics it’s a super fun way to spend time as a family, and you can do all of the outdoors activities nearby while you’re there. So things like mountain biking, boating, fishing and so much more.

Adventure Park Resort

You can find some resorts that have adventure parks right on the site, so things like ziplining, climbing walls, rope courses, obstacle trails and all kinds of fun, outdoorsy activities for slightly older kids and teenagers. Something like this is perfect if you’ve got little thrill seekers but dont necessarily want to spend hundreds on theme park tickets where you know you’ll spend all day waiting in queues. If you’re already an active and outdoors loving family then this will be right up your street, bit even if you’ve never done it before give it a go as you’ll be surprised how fun it can be and what a great bonding activity these sorts of things are. Especially when kids reach that awkward age where they’re less interested in the stuff they used to love and you’re in need of fresh ideas that you can all do together.

Historical Stay

If your family or kids are interested in history, or you want to do something educational then a stay somewhere historical could be a fun adventure. How about something like an old castle, a historic manor or a heritage site that has a ton of great history around it. These sorts of places often do things like dungeon tours, you can explore the old houses or towers or creepy outbuildings. They often have incredible land and gardens too that surround them so perfect for getting fresh air and enjoying a picnic lunch. Do some research and find out what kinds of places you have like this local to you, it can be something a bit different to another old chain hotel!
