4 Fun Everyday Writing Accessories

Sharing is caring!

Pens, Pencils, Erasers And More That Will Boost Your Child’s Excitement For Heading Back To School

Every year at back to school time my children get a kick out of shopping, not just for the seemingly endless supply of backpacks, folders, lunch boxes, and notepads that come in a variety of exciting colors and designs — but also for the cool new pens, pencils, and other writing accessories they’ll have fun using each year.

Writing comes naturally to some, and not so naturally to others. Either way, with a little help from some amusing writing accessories, the process of getting ideas down on paper can be full of creativity that allows a child’s imagination to run free. Here are some recommendations for writing accessories that are particularly helpful in helping a child’s imagination soar.

Scented Glitter Gel Pens

Remember back in the day when, if you were lucky enough, your mom would buy you those smelly markers to take to school? You know, the ones where the purple smelled like grape, the blue smelled like blueberries, and the green smelled like green apple?

Well, the scented marker has moved to a whole new level these days. Glitter gel pens, which are possibly the most lighthearted and lively way to take notes in class or work on a writing assignment, are also available in a scented version. Pick up a pack of scented glitter gel pens, and by the time your child is done with her writing, the words will be bouncing of the page in splashes of glitter and a hint of fruity fragrance… just like old times!

Erasable Highlighters

My son came home the last day of school this year with a summer study packet his teacher had given him. Packed in with all of the summer essentials such as worksheets and writing journals was a pack of highlighters. They weren’t any typical highlighters, though. These highlighters are erasable.

I’m not sure what is cooler, the fact that my son’s English teacher is giving him a head start for next year, or the fact that she’s packing such creative tools in his bag to help him do so. Erasable highlighters are a great choice for assigned summer reading, because highlights made incorrectly are no longer a problem. Just erase it. I would have loved to have that when I was in middle school, high school, or college!

Writer’s Gel Pens

I personally love the feel of gel pens as the ink glides along the paper, but I’m happy to save the glitter and punch of color for my daughter. Instead, I use writers gel pens, which are colorful still, but have a smaller point that’s perfect for detailed note-taking.

They come in variety of colors to keep note-taking organized and stimulating, but nothing so crazy your older child would be embarrassed by if they need to turn it in to a teacher or college professor. And the ink flows onto the paper like silk.

Crazy Colorful Erasers

The best part of back to school shopping is looking at all the exciting options for erasers! While erasers have become a major category of fun (and play) in recent years, they are still such an important part of any student’s tool set.

The eraser on the end of the typical pencil just won’t last long for most kids. It’s usually gone within a month of use. No matter whether your child chooses whimsical scented unicorn erasers, popsicle puzzle erasers, or a functional yet colorful click it eraser pen, it’s always best to have a couple of them floating around in the pencil bag on standby.
